by Joanne

It’s said that the kitchen is the place where families and friends come together, which is why we here at Tile Supply Online have decided to review 5 Fabulous Custom Kitchens from Across the Country. Each designer has taken their clients’ kitchen space, from the layout to the backsplash tile, and completely customized it to fit each of their styles and their needs.

This “Fitted Furniture” style kitchen was designed and made by Minneapolis based custom woodworker Brian Grabski and co-designed by Twin Cities designer Chris VanKlei. The vision behind this magnificent kitchen was to create custom cabinetry that looked like individual pieces of furniture. The hand applied, oil-based enamel cabinets are accompanied by a solid maple butcher block counter top, a slate backsplash and Swarovski crystal knobs. Each element lends a hand in creating this classy custom

kitchen. www.designedandmade.com

This open space kitchen was designed by custom home builder Hibbs Homes. The homeowners requested a kitchen with an open feel that offered modern amenities that would fit their families needs.

Hibbs Homes finished off this family friendly kitchen with beautiful carrara marble counter tops, modern appliances, plenty of natural lighting, and a charming traditional subway tile back splash. Hidden within the subway tiles they built an iPod docking station, creating the perfect mix of modern technology and classic elements in this open space kitchen. www.HibbsHomes.com

Ocean View Kitchen, Santa Monica, CA

This impressive ocean view condo kitchen was designed by Nina Petronzio of Plush Home. The client owns a second home in Lake Como, Italy and had mentioned her appreciation and love of the “high style” Italian kitchen. Nina felt the style was appropriate for her client’s small space because of the seamless, clean and sleek look that a high style Italian kitchen provides. The opal white high gloss cabinetry and horizontal subway tile help open up the compact space creating the illusion of a much more expansive kitchen. This kitchen is truly a beauty. www.plushhome.com

This French Chateau kitchen was created by award winning designer Robin Rigby Fisher. Her design inspiration came from the homeowner’s many travels to France. The kitchen’s french style is unmistakable, you can almost smell the aroma of fresh baked croissants. The typhoon bourdeux granite counter tops, alder wood cabinets and the hand glazed tile back splash with the mosaic accent all lend to completing this unmistakably french inspired kitchen. www.robinrigbyfisher.com

Made for Entertaining, Hollywood, CA

Made for Entertaining, Hollywood, CA

This masculine kitchen was created by Christopher Grubb and Jamie Rueb of Arch-Interiors Design Group Inc.. The owner only had a few requests for his designers; get rid of the avocado green laminate counter tops, make room for a wine fridge, and open the kitchen for entertaining without reducing storage. The designers outdid themselves. The flat front cherry cabinets and concrete colored CaesarStone countertops with a 3” think edge give the whole kitchen a more masculine feel. Under cabinet lighting adds a bit of sparkle to this masculine kitchen as it dances off the the glass mosaic tile backsplash. They also set the owner up for some great parties by opening up the kitchen, adding a breakfast bar, and getting creative with storage space by adding a two-sided glass front cabinet over the peninsula. This Hollywood kitchen is meant for entertaining. www.archinteriors.com
